Starting May 6 for 5 weeks
Note the date change
Do you regularly attend MEFC? Are you interested in what it means to be a member of MEFC? Have you considered becoming a voting member?
Pastor Sam will begin a series about what it means to be member at MEFC. The class begins April 29 and runs for five weeks. Each week will cover a different topic. Attending this class does not make you a member of MEFC. It gives you the information you need to decide if you would like to become a member.
The topics covered in each week are:
- The Church’s History: the Evangelical Free Church Association (EFCA) and MEFC in particular.
- The Church’s Doctrine: what we believe, and why we believe it.
- Membership Responsibilities: it’s more than being here every week.
- The Church Government: what is the structure and why is it that way.
- Getting Connected and Being Involved: the importance of small groups and finding a place to serve.
If you are interested in attending this class please contact the church office or fill out the registration form below. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the office at (201) 391-6233 or send an email.

A couple weeks ago, we posted information about volunteer opportunities in Bergen County. This week we introduce a similar website for the Hudson Valley area in New York. The website is www.volunteer-center.org. On this website, you will be able to enter your zipcode and find volunteer opportunities within a specified radius, for example, within 10 miles of 10965.
The easiest way to search is using their advanced search. Here, you can narrow down your search for opportunities by whom you want to serve (by age group or population), what days and times you are available, and by the age of the volunteer (children, teens, etc).
You can also find the Youth Volunteer Guidebook in the Programs section of the website. There is a link at the top of the page to take you there. The bulk of the opportunities seem to be centered in the Westchester area there do seem to be some local (Rockland County) area opportunities.

The Walter Hoving Home Choir will be singing Tuesday, March 27, during the Ladies RefresHER. The Walter Hoving Home is a non-profit, faith-based rehabilitation center serving women 18 years and older who have been involved in drug addiction, alcoholism, prostitution and other life-controlling problems.
We are collecting gently used professional clothing and shoes to be given to the ladies from the home. The idea is for the clothes to be worn to interviews as they transition out of the program.
Even if you can not attend their presentation, please bring clothes for the donation. There is a clothing rack in the narthex where you can hang up the clothes or leave bags.
