Once again, we are raising money for CareNet of Rockland by filling baby bottles with change and money. Bottles will be available in the Narthex beginning Sunday, February 12. They will be collected again on Sunday, March 4.
Care Net Pregnancy Center has operated for more than 20 years. They counsel women in unplanned and unwanted pregnancies and those who may suffer from post-abortion stress, by offering educational information so they can make informed decisions. They have 3 paid personnel and a staff of well trained volunteers, or Client Advocates, that work with the girls and women.
We have supported this worthy organization for the past several years with this donation drive.

Theology: Who is God?
We continue this week with the videos from The Truth Project. This weeks lesson is entitled Theology: Who is God? According to their website, “Eternal life, according to Jesus, is knowing God in an intimate, personal, and relational way. Such knowledge, which is possible only because of divine revelation, transforms us from the inside out as we begin to see ourselves in the light of His majesty and holiness.”

Sunday we held our Kingdom Assignment #1 celebration service.
Last year we started the idea of Kingdom Assignments. These were church projects that focused on our members Time, Talents, and Treasures. In this first project, the church distributed $100 to fifty members to try to increase by using their talents. The church chose two charities: Meals on Wheels from Rockland County and Zoe's Place in Bergen County. We also gave money to the Borough of Montvale in accordance with our mission to be a community of Christ-centered good neighbors. The money was to be divided evenly among the three organizations.
This service marked our celebration of the conclusion of the first Kingdom assignment. Jane Fiedler, the Executive Director of Zoe's Place, Susan Knowlton, the President of the Board of Directors of Zoe's Place, Barbara Kohlhausen, CEO and President of Meals on Wheels Programs and Services, and Roger Fyfe, Mayor of Montvale each were presented with checks. The church was able to distribute nearly $15,000 - almost $5000 per organization. Some projects were not completed and those monies will be divided and distributed at a later date.
Lil Revere, Chairman of the Trustee Board, presents a check to Jane Fiedler and Susan Knowlton of Zoe's Place.Zoe's Place is a home and shelter for pregnant teens and teen mothers. They offer safe, supervised housing for the teens while providing them with an education and job skills that lead them into self-sufficiency. They also run Zoe's Cupcake Cafe (740 Chestnut Ave, Teaneck, NJ) as way to offer employment and training opportunities to the girls while also providing a sustainable funding for the center. The girls learn all aspects of the business and can take those skills with them in the future. Jane Fiedler, E attended to accept the donation on
Peter Daly, a deacon, presents a check to Barbara Kohlhausen of Meals on Wheels.Rockland Meals on Wheels is an organization that provides meals and services to the aging population of Rockland County, New York. According to their website, this year volunteers will deliver more than 200,000 meals to homebound Rockland residents. This service often makes the difference between a person being able to remain at home, living independently or being placed in a nursing home or a health care center. They also operate six senior centers around Rockland County to offer a "home away from home" for their participants.
Pastor Sam Goertz presents Mayor Roger Fyfe with a check. The Borough of Montvale was represented by Mayor Roger Fyfe. The town was chosen as our third organization to which we donated because it represents our committment to our church vision - To be a Christ-centered community of good neighbors. The money was presented to the town with "no strings attached". It is to be used as the town sees fit and in whatever manner will benefit the borough the most.

Anthropology: Who Is Man?
According to their website, “the Bible tells us that man was created in God’s image but fell from innocence through sin. Modern psychology, on the other hand, asserts that man is inherently good and behaves badly only under the influence of social or institutional pressure. This lesson explores the implications of both views.”
Come join us while we watch these life changing videos. The videos are shown at 6:30 in the Fireside room on Sunday Evenings.

Monadnock Bible CampThe Junior High youth group returned Sunday from their weekend at Camp Monadnock. God was definitely present this weekend, as we saw 3 young people receive Christ as their Savior and 5 rededicated their lives. It was definitely a life-changing event for our youth. We need to be sure to keep these young people in our prayers as they move forward and to help them grow in Christ.

There were other things going on at the camp as well. The camp is raising funds through their Love in Motion campaign. The kids bought bracelets to raise money for the camp as well as bags that will be filled with food for people in Haiti. The kids got to personalize the bags that they bought with messages for the recipients.

Philosophy and Ethics: Says Who?
From The Truth Project’s website description of lesson two, “truth is not simply an academic concept. The way we think about truth has a direct bearing upon the way we live our lives. What’s more, our understanding of right and wrong is directly dependent on our worldview: is the universe God’s creation or a closed cosmic cube?”
Come join us as we watch these informative and life changing videos. Even if you missed the first lesson, feel free to join us for the rest of the lessons.
